According to a child protection survey by Save the Children! In addition, more than 90% of children in Uganda face child poverty. Children who grow up impoverished often lack the food, sanitation, shelter, health care, and education they need to survive and thrive. This is further compounded in the slums. They are also more vulnerable to the effects of poverty such as exploitation and abuse in many ways.
The lack of basic education, scholastic material, sanitary wear, safe shelter, and a time and a place to play expose these children to poor life choices leading to early pregnancy, dropping out of school, early marriages, and criminal activity.
This forms a vicious cycle of poverty for these children.
In our work, we are cognizant of this situation and we strive to provide a level ground of opportunity to the least privileged to have a fair opportunity at escaping poverty.
